ProQual Level 4 Diploma in the Remote Piloting of Unmanned Aircraft Systems for Commercial Operations by TMST Solutions Ltd
9th of October, 2025
TMST Solutions’ ProQual level 4 diploma is a five day, ELCAS accredited, intensive drone training course, designed to give military leavers a solid foundation in drone operations.
The course starts with access to a comprehensive e-learning package to prepare trainees for the theory phase. They will cover modules on subjects like Air Law, Airspace, Human Factors, and Meteorology. Each module has repeatable knowledge quizzes so they can gauge their progress through the syllabus.
They will then attend a two-day groundschool, hosted through Microsoft Teams, where they will receive all the information they need to complete their theory exam on the Friday of the training week. The Teams sessions are instructor led, which gives the trainees the ability to discuss wider aspects of the industry. Talking about things like which aircraft to buy, or how to generate business are not topics covered in the groundschool, but the instructors are current commercial operators with years of working in the industry on a multitude of different types of flying.
Once the theory sessions are complete, the course moves to Stafford and the flying site at the Wissage Bakehouse in Aston. Students will then learn to fly drones in preparation for their flight assessment. Once they successfully complete their assessment they will move on to the more advanced aspects of flying unmanned aircraft. They will cover manoeuvres for photography and video, indoor flying, roof inspections and how to plan and execute a full orthomosaic mapping or 3D modelling mission. They can even have a go at some First Person View (FPV) flying with acrobatic drones using HD goggle systems.
There is no need to own a drone before attending the course, or have any experience at all. TMST provide all the drones, and the students will have access to new aircraft like the DJI Mini 3 & 4, DJI Air 3S and Matrice 4E, as well as a number of Mavic 2 Pros and Autel Evo II aircraft.
By the end of the course, students will have plenty of experience in many industry tasks, which puts them well ahead of their civilian contemporaries. Coupled with the diploma, students that attend the TMST course have reported they are viewed much more favourably by employers.
TMST’s Level 4 diploma course is fully ELCAS accredited, and courses are running from March until September 2026. You can get more information by contacting TMST directly through their website https://www.tmstsolutions.com/
